Account information. When you sign up, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your name, email address, profile image, and authentication details (password hash, or your Google account identifier if you sign in with Google).

Content you provide. Your bottle inventory, journal entries, shopping lists, recipe submissions, chat messages, and any photos you submit for bottle identification.

Payment information. If you subscribe to Premium or send a tip, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details directly. We receive transaction metadata (amount, status, subscription state) but never your full card number.

Usage and device data. We use PostHog for product analytics (pages viewed, features used) and Sentry for error monitoring, which may capture technical details like your browser, device, IP address, and pages visited at the time of an error.

Age verification.We store the fact that you've confirmed you're 21 or older (via a cookie and, once you have an account, on your profile) so you're not asked again. We don't store the date of birth you enter beyond what's needed to calculate your age at verification time.

• To provide and operate the Service — your inventory, recipes, and chat history;
• To process payments and manage subscriptions;
• To send AI features (chat messages, photos) to our AI provider for processing;
• To understand usage patterns and improve the Service;
• To detect, diagnose, and fix errors;
• To enforce our Terms of Service and keep the Service safe.

When you use the chat assistant or photo-based bottle identification, the text or images you submit are sent to our AI provider (currently Anthropic) to generate a response. We don't control how that provider processes data beyond what their own terms specify. You can control how long your chat history is retained from Settings, and can delete it at any time.

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run TipsyBot, each acting under their own privacy terms:

• Clerk — authentication and account management;
• Stripe — payment processing;
• Anthropic — AI chat and photo recognition;
• PostHog — product analytics and feature flags;
• Sentry — error monitoring;
• Vercel — application hosting;
• TheCocktailDB — source for part of our baseline recipe catalog (no personal data is shared with them).

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of TipsyBot, our users, or others.

We use a small number of cookies: an age-verification cookie, authentication/session cookies set by Clerk, and analytics cookies/identifiers set by PostHog. These are necessary for the Service to function or to understand aggregate usage — we don't use third-party advertising cookies.

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Chat history retention is configurable in Settings and old sessions are deleted automatically according to your chosen period. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and content within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain records (for example, transaction records for tax or legal purposes).

You can review and update your profile information, adjust chat retention, and delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account removes your TipsyBot profile and associated content; some records may be retained where legally required.

TipsyBot is not directed at anyone under 21 and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us and we'll take appropriate action.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We can't guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above.
